Przygotuj tabliczki do tkania / Prepare your tablets for weaving

Zanim zaprezentujemy Wam zasady tkania za pomocą tabliczek, zobaczcie jak, krok po kroku, je do tego przygotować. Podobnie jak w przypadku innych metod tkackich (warsztat pionowy, bardko, rama), proces przygotowań może okazać się bardziej pracochłonny niż sam proces tkania. Ważne by nie popełnić tu pomyłki. CZĘŚĆ 1: ZANIM ZACZNIESZ TKAĆ objaśni jak tego dokonać.

Metodę zilustrujemy na przykładzie bardzo prostego, a jednocześnie efektownego, wzoru greckiego meandra. Powstałą w ten sposób piękną krajkę możecie później wykorzystać na wiele sposobów, jako bransoletkę, pasek, breloczek do kluczy, obrożę dla psa... możliwości jest wiele :)

Before we present you the rules of weaving on tablets, find out how to prepare the tablets step by step. Similar as in other methods of weaving (the warp weighted loom, loom with a rigid heddle, frame), the preparatory process can turn out to be more complicated than weaving! There is no place for mistakes either. PART 1: BEFORE YOU START WEAVING will explain you how to do it well.

This method will be shown on the example of a simple, yet effective, Greek meander pattern. The patterned band obtained in the end can be than used as a bracelet, belt, pendant, a collar for 

your dog...any many more :)

ZANIM ZACZNIESZ TKAĆ: / BEFORE YOU START WEAVING:

Tabliczki / The tablets

O różnych rodzajach tabliczek pisaliśmy w poprzednim poście (kliknij TUTAJ). 

Polecamy niewielkie (ok. 5 cm), drewniane lub tekturowe tabliczki. Na każdej muszą znaleźć się 4 oznakowane otwory (dla ułatwienia można też oznaczyć boki tabliczek w sposób pokazany na rysunku).

We wrote about diverse types of tablets in the previous post (click HERE to read it).

We recommend you the simplest wooden or cartboard tablets of small seize (about 5 cm). They should all have 4 marked holes (you can also mark the sides of each tablet, as shown above, to ease the process).

Wzór / The pattern

Przygotowanie wzoru.

Najpierw wybierz liczbę tabliczek, na których chcesz tkać (w tym wypadku będzie ich 12). Pamiętaj, że im więcej tabliczek, tym szersza krajka!

Każda tabliczka ma swój numer (od 1 do 12) oraz 4 oznakowane otwory (A do D).

Prepare the pattern. 

First, choose the number of tablets you want to use (in this case: 12). Remember: the more tablets you use, the thicker the band will be!

Every tablet has its number (from 1 to 12) and 4 holes (A to D).

Wybierz kolory wzoru. 

Nasz meander będzie granatowy, natomiast tło niebieskie.

Choose the colors for your pattern. 

Our meander will be navy blue on blue background.

Zlicz nitki.

Do wykonania tego wzoru potrzebnych będzie: 28 nici niebieskich i 20 granatowych.

Count the threads.

To make such pattern you'll need: 28 of navy blue and 20 blue threads. 

Materiały / The materials

Przygotuj odpowiednią ilość nitek o długości ok. 140 cm oraz długą nitkę wątku (może być niebieska).

Prepare the appropriate number of threads, about 140 cm long, and a long weft thread.

Nawlekanie / Stringing

Nawlecz odpowiednie nitki w odpowiednie otwory, zgodnie ze wzorem.

(Np. na tabliczkę nr 1 we wszystkie otwory nawlecz niebieską nitkę, na tabliczkę nr 5: granatową nitkę w otwory A, B i C oraz niebieską nitkę w otwór D).

String the threads in the appropriate holes, according to the pattern.

(E.g. string blue thread on all holes of tablet nr 1, while navy blue thread on holes A, B and C of the tablet nr 5 and blue on the last hole).

Pamiętaj by zmienić kierunek nawlekania poczynając od tabliczki nr 7 (nitki na tabliczki od 1 do 6 nawlekaj w otwory od tylnej strony, natomiast w otwory tabliczek 7-12 od przodu do tyłu).

Remember to change the direction of stringing beginning from the tablet nr 7 (put the thread from the back to the front of tablets 1 to 6 and from the front to back of tablets 7-12).

Zbierz końcówki nitek w mocny supeł i dowiąż do niego wątek. Umocuj całość np. do nogi stołu lub oparcia krzesła. Drugi koniec możesz zamocować u paska. Upewnij się, że nici będą naprężone po rozpięciu ich w ten sposób.
Put all ends together into a tight knot and fix the weft's end to it. Tie it all to the leg of a table of the back of a seat. You can tie the other end of the threads to your belt. Make sure the threads are tightened well while spread.
